Fuzayl Ayaz, a famous mystic, was engaged in theft and robbery before his inner transformation and repentance. A caravan was passing by, a man in the caravan was reciting the Qur’an, at some point Fazil heard this ayah:
«أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ أَن تَخْشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ لِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ»
Has time not come for the believers their hearts become soft and humble in the remembrance of Allah?
This verse was an arrow that struck the soul of Fuzayl and he replied: Yes, the time has come! And since then, a great change took place in his soul and he began to correct his past mistakes!
